Involve parents and administrators when appropriate
To ensure the safety of a student targeted by some form of aggression based on racism, sexism or homophobia, it may be necessary to involve school administrators and parents of all students involved in the situation. The more successful school staff members are at working together and building partnerships with all connected parties, the greater the likelihood that the situation can be ended.
The Safe@School teacher training module on bullying prevention offers guidelines and suggestions for involving the parents of the child or teen who has targeted another person (see Building Healthy Partnerships).
