Information

Having access to information increases parents’ and caregivers’ confidence and ability to work with schools in order to reduce students’ vulnerability to bullying, inequity and exclusion.

Schools share power with parents and caregivers when they provide them with all the information necessary to understand the problem (generally or specifically) and how it will be resolved. This includes information about:

  • the issues, impact and incidence of bullying, discrimination and exclusion;
  • their role and their rights as parents and caregivers;
  • the school’s and school board’s policies and procedures;
  • the progress of a specific situation.

Reflecting on information-sharing with parents and caregivers

In my school:

  • How do we share information about bullying prevention and equity and inclusion with parents and guardians?
  • What kind of information is shared?
