When we actively seek opportunities, personally or professionally, to gain knowledge and develop understanding and abilities which enable us to increase equity and inclusion, we become more skilled and capable as allies. Continuously challenging ourselves to grow and learn by placing ourselves in situations that nurture our personal and professional development leads to increased self-actualization.
This process may propel us to move outside of our selves, beyond our comfort zone. As part of this process, we will need to engage with other members of our school community – students, parents and colleagues (see Sam).
